Northeast Iowa Resource Conservation and Development, Inc. is located in the far northeast corner of Iowa in the community of Postville. As a 501(c)(3) organization, the RC&D primarily serves a seven-county region including Allamakee, Buchanan, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties. However, the organization also tackles projects that go beyond that area when benefits are expected to come back to the region.

Northeast Iowa RC&D works on between 50 and 75 projects annually. To ensure those projects are successful, the employees make it a priority to give a voice to and partner with as many individuals, stakeholders, and organizations, as possible.

Partners includes economic development and tourism directors, county and state conservation leaders, small business owners, farmers, city councils and their staff, county boards of supervisors and their department heads, and other entities. This bottom-up approach ensures that the RC&D projects are locally supported and implemented with enthusiasm. Fifteen directors volunteer their time and resources to provide oversight and support for the staff and projects.

Shaping Northeast IowaNortheast Iowa RC&D works with partners from throughout the region to explore natural resource based economic development opportunities while at the same time protecting and enhancing natural resources. Our mission is to recognize opportunities and provide leadership to make Northeast Iowa a vibrant, place-based model for the nation!

We love the people, places, and local systems that make Northeast Iowa unique and special. We work on projects that are locally conceived, with partners that are passionate and creative. Our organization uses a bottom-up approach to economic development and natural resource enhancement that involves and empowers citizens rather than a top-down approach that dictates solutions. Northeast Iowa RC&D stands beside partners, first empowering them and recognizing their talents, gifts and knowledge, and then providing our expertise.
