Northeast Iowa Local Food Expansion Plan

Northeast Iowa RC&D recently completed the Northeast Iowa Local Food Expansion Plan. This plan includes goals and recommendations for organizations and individuals interested in expanding various aspects of the local food system to create a healthier and more vibrant local food based economy in Northeast Iowa.

Northeast Iowa RC&D was one of ten Iowa RC&Ds to complete a regional, Local Food Expansion Plan with the assistance of the Iowa League of RC&Ds who secured funding from the USDA Rural Development RCDI program. Ten regions in Iowa hired Local Foods Coordinators to work together to carry out the work of the grant. Five of these regions began working in 2010 and the other five started their work in 2011. The work they are doing will impact 50% of the state.

This plan was written as part of the Expanding Local Food System Capacity Across Iowa Project funded by the Iowa League of RC&D’s through a RCDI grant from the USDA. Special thanks to:
